Fun With Food!

Description
Does your child love to help in the kitchen? Do you dream of the day they prepare their own lunch for school? Then this camp is for you!
Fun With Food Camp is designed for campers ages 8 - 12 who want to have fun in the kitchen, build skills, and explore their love of food. Campers learn practical food literacy skills and build confidence and independence in the kitchen while preparing their own snacks and simple meals. (Note: all snacks and lunches are included in the camp fee!)
Located in the state-of-the-art kitchen in TMU's School of Nutrition, each day's activities give campers hands-on experience planning & preparing their own daily meals alongside a registered dietitian and graduate students in the School of Nutrition. The program focuses on building healthy eating habits and understanding the principles of food science in a fun, supportive environment.
This program boasts a child-to-adult ratio of 3:1, ensuring that safety in the kitchen is always top of mind.
New in 2025: this year there will be two camp options:
- Cooking Basics (July 7 - 11)
- Beyond the Basics (July 14 - 18)
The curriculum for Fun With Food is developed by graduate students in the TMU School of Nutrition under the leadership of Dr. Jessica Omand, a registered dietitian who specializes in pediatric nutrition. Dr. Omand completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and currently teaches in the TMU School of Nutrition.
